We welcome you to the emerging environment of research, innovation and entrepreneurship. This office of Research and Strategic Initiatives (R&SI) also looks after the strategic initiatives being taken in planning, academic development, HR and international relations.

Knowledge creation is key to the future development of any society in an ever changing world based on futuristic solutions of countries and communities. In order to develop NUML into a true center of excellence, it is imperative that apart from maintaining high standards in teaching, research should be rigorously pursued and suitably rewarded.

R&SI Division at NUML works for the promotion of research, commercialization, developing university-industry linkages, capacity building and policy development. It aims to protect and promote the interests of NUML and is working on long-term, sustainable planning and progress of all of its units in integration with the departments of the university. We have identified key industries with exceptional opportunities, long-term and cutting-edge challenges.

The Division also works on various aspects of environmental sustainability while working with all stakeholders and communities. It aims at equipping teachers, students and community members with the knowledge and skills needed to address pressing environmental challenges through adaptation and necessary actions. This is being carried out through curriculum development, capacity building, research and advocacy.

It also strives to develop sustained contacts with the corporate sector/market/industry to ensure compatibility between research and requirements to increase its utility to the optimum. Therefore, this office facilitates, promotes, monitors, and publishes research conducted with the view to maximize both production and utility of research studies attempted in this regard.

Pro-Rector R&SI Division

Overview

The R&SI Division has been established to initiate, embed, support and integrate the process of research, innovation and commercialization in every Department of the University. The Division aims to protect and promote the interests of NUML and is working on long-term, sustainable planning and progress of all of its units in integration with the Departments of the University. The Office of R&SI has identified key industries with exceptional opportunities, long-term and cutting-edge challenges.

The Office was established to develop research culture in the University. It aims to develop contacts with the corporate sector / market / industry to ensure compatibility between research and requirements in order to increase its utility to the optimum. Therefore, this Office facilitates, promotes, monitors, and publishes research conducted with the view to maximize both production and utility of research studies attempted in this regard.

Vision

To serve as a main catalyst in the University for knowledge production through development and empowerment of individuals, professions and institutions while building their capacity for solutions.

Mission

The mission of R&SI Division is to facilitate and coordinate research activities of NUML constituent departments and to liaise with other national as well as international academic, research and industrial organizations to facilitate research at NUML.

Objectives

  • To help establish a research culture so that quality research remains an integral component of academic activities at NUML.
  • To encourage and ensure that high quality research of direct relevance to Pakistan’s needs, pertaining to both industry and society, is pursued in NUML constituent departments.

  • To encourage and assist NUML researchers in obtaining research grants from the Public/Private Sector and Foreign Agencies.

  • To facilitate and support NUML researchers for publication and presentation of their research work through participation in such activities.
