NUML established ORIC for promotion of research, commercialization, developing university-industry linkages, capacity building and policy development. ORIC at NUML aims to protect and promote the interests of NUML and is working on long-term, sustainable planning and progress of all of its units in integration with the departments of the university. ORIC-NUML has identified key industries with exceptional opportunities, long-term and cutting-edge challenges.
It also aims to develop contacts with the corporate sector/market/industry to ensure compatibility between research and requirements to increase its utility to the optimum. Training Model
Duration: 03 Months
We follow 2 + 1 Model : 02 months of lab based training and 01 month of guided Project.
Professional Trainers will take the training sessions with practical work.
Students will be engaged in live projects as well, as per the level of understanding and effort
In addition to technical content, each course will also include the training for free-lancing where the learner will create his/her own account at free-lancing websites to get it ready as per professional demands, training track, the candidates will appear in the international certification relevant to the training track.
The Office of Research Coordination looks over the funded projects at NUML. It facilitates the projects from receiving to project submission stage. It provides awareness by sharing upcoming calls of funding. Training on project proposal preparation, execution and submission are also provided. Assistance in Financial record keeping is a key role played by this office. Projects under progress are monitored and reviewed throughout the project duration. Researcher's Lounge, a dedicated co-working space, is available to all project teams for research work

About
ORIC promotes the development of public-private partnerships in support of University research, links the University’s research community with the needs and priorities of the industry, develops opportunities for applied research and explores opportunities for technology transfer and commercialization of University research. The Office identifies and establishes collaborations and/or licensing agreements associated with the University’s intellectual property. It is working to enhance the culture of IP capture, including an ongoing evaluation of University research for IP potential. ORIC tracks the success of University technology in the hands of licensees and devises policy briefs.

- Promote innovation and commercialization.
- Identification of synergies, and development of relationships with external partners.
- Develop the University's IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) Policy, and ensure that the interests of researchers and faculty members are fully protected.
- Identify, build, and market the intellectual property of the University personnel through a range of licensing and spin-off arrangements.

The Professional Development Centre (PDC) at NUML was established in June 2015; it is a platform to enhance and develop ethical values, thinking ability, analytical skills, creation and construction of knowledge to develop a holistic skillset that is essential to achieve an optimal performance for the organization. The Center closely works with the experienced internal and external faculty members and with seasoned market trainers to bring in a blend of academic insights and real world practices. We at NUML are committed to a continuous improvement and capacity building of our faculty, academicians, professionals, and students in the multiple areas to keep them up-to-date in their relevant fields. PDC offers capacity building programs in two streams, stream- I caters to internal employees and stream-II caters to the professionals from the external market. PDC – NUML offers development programs for SMEs, Public and Corporate Sector executives. We also provide trainings on Social and Environmental aspects of sustainability to staff and students. The centre also works in close collaboration with multiple institutes at national and international level to open broader avenues of training and development for the faculty, students and staff members.

As a capacity development initiative by the top management, NUML has conducted a series of Faculty Development Programs Level-I starting from February 2022 till September 2022 which cater to the new to mid-level audience to equip them with knowledge and skillset that can help them take on the role of teaching in an effective manner. The programs emphasized on areas of knowledge construction and how learning works, university teaching in a contemporary environment, research methodologies, learning management systems, creating social capital, empathy at workplace, conflict resolution, time management, leading trough diversity and many other essential topics. NUML sourced internal and external resource persons based on their experience and expertise to provide learners a platform where they can learn from experts from the corporate market as well as from the field of academia. The program was well received by the participants and they were appreciative of the efforts by NUML management in contributing towards their capacity development as one of the very rare institutions to arrange Development Programs for the existing and newly hired faculty.

Overview of BICON
Business Incubation Center of NUML (B ICON) is a flagship project of Higher Education Commission (HEC) and formally started its operations in October 2016. B ICON triggers entrepreneurial spirit, provides state-of-the-art infrastructure, supports problem solving innovation, strengthens business development. B ICON promotes the entrepreneurial culture for the start-ups, accelerators and spin-offs from the students, alumni and faculty members.
We encourage business ideas from students, alumni and faculty members to register for different batches / Cohort.
We help to flourish your basic ideas into business opportunities. We help you to link with Industrial experts for grooming your ideas. We also provide funding opportunities by the National and International Organizations. Teams from regional campuses can also apply.

Established in July 2021, the NUML Placement Center is a testament to our commitment to student's holistic development and professional success. Its core objective is to assist students in defining their career goals and furnish them with the requisite skills and information for achieving success in the competitive landscape of jobs and internships. Through meticulous communication strategies, including emails, WhatsApp groups, and active presence on social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn, the Center ensures the timely dissemination of information regarding available internships and job opportunities to departmental focal persons, faculty, and students.
The corporate sector is invited regularly to visit the NUML Placement Centre to identify, opportunities for collaboration and to strengthen industry and academia relationships. Selected profiles of distinguished Alumni are shared regularly Students from different faculties visit the NUML Placement Centre for guidance, career counseling, internships, and job placement support services provided regularly.
Mission
• To assist our students, graduates and alumni to build useful relationship with various stakeholders to achieve rewarding and professional careers as interns, employees and even as entrepreneurs.
• To facilitate, develop and maintain a network of relationship with industry, corporate, development sector and public sector for seamless assimilation of NUML graduates in the job market.
• To help the students through their capacity building in order to define their career goals and equip themselves with the skills and information necessary for a successful job search.

NUML Job Fair 2024
The NUML Job Fair 2024 was attended by large National & International Companies including Fauji Foundation, Askari Bank, Suzuki Motors, Nayatel, National Bank of Pakistan, HUM TV, TCS, Pearl Continental Hotel etc. We witnessed significant corporate participation, with a total of 92 companies initially registering their presence. Ultimately, 80+ companies were finalized to participate actively. The event drew an impressive attendance, with over 2500 plus students and alumni in attendance. Notably, faculty members from diverse departments also actively participated in the event, contributing to its overall success. Industry Technology Cell – ORIC NUML (IT CON) was established in August 2016 to enhance the academic and software development skills of the students during their degrees. It also helps to transform research and ideas of students, faculty and/or staff into commercially viable products.
In IT CON, students join to learn and then develop projects / modules in variety of state-of-the-art tools and technologies. Students are encouraged to come for internship to enhance their designing and software development skills as per availability of time after classes. In collaboration with software companies, we also work for commercial projects from the software industry and other organizations. Students may avail the stipend as per development efforts in respective projects. These development skills improve the student capabilities during the degree. It enhances the opportunities for job or new own startups with business ideas.

The promotion of research is one of the core strategic goals of the ORIC along with improving the trends of research activities and transforming ideas into innovative products and services. ORIC is a platform that encourages multidisciplinary research and it works for managing and escalating the research activities.
To enhance research productivity and disseminate evidence based scientific knowledge, NUML is publishing research journals in seven categories.
All journals are using open journal system (OJS) for paper submission and review processes for the purpose of publications in the interest of transparency, efficiency and integrity.
Duties and Responsibilite
• Assist journals’ editors about working and functionalities of OJS.
• Arrange workshops on Editorial Work Flow; that include article submission from authors, desk review, internal & external review, copy editing and productions with allocation of DOIs.
• Collaborating with CrossRef which is parent body for awarding DOIs for research journals.
• Develop SOPs for plagiarism process and coordinating QEC for allocating Turnitin accounts for journals.
• Guide editors about accreditation process with HEC.
• Collaborate with indexing and copyright agencies, e.g, IPO, EBSCOW, CROSSREF, DOAJ, COPE, SCOPUS etc.
• On timely basis, guide assistant editors and internees about OJS activities and website settings.
• Design a same template of research articles of all NUML journals.
• Streamline journals’ policies; that include copyright, licensing, open access, plagiarism, peer review, ethical policy, privacy, publishing policy etc.
Activities
• Higher Education Journal Recognition division annually calls applications for accreditation of journals. Manager journal publication assist editors in their application process to HJRS.
• One day training to journals' editors explained OJS functionalities and editorial work flow processes.
• All journals are indexed in CrossRef.
• Uniform journal policies have been made regarding copyright, licensing, plagiarism, open access etc. All journals are licensed licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).
• NUML journs are adhering the Budapest Open Access Initiative definition of open access. Both, license and openaccess statesments are embedded on every published research article.
• For copyrights, NUML journals have applied in Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan (IPO).
• Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) is an eminent indexing agency which keeps records of open access journals of the world. Moreover, indexing in DOAJ directs towards indexing in SCOPUS. By grace of Allah, all SEVEN functional NUML journals have been indexed in DOAJ.
