I am a governance public policy analyst. My research interest in civil society (Participatory Governance) began with my work in the non-profit sector. While working with civil society organizations, I noticed a disconnect between the effective civil society models promoted by international aid organizations and seemingly dysfunctional civil society organizations promoted by the government. My doctoral research thesis was on comprehensive analysis of civil society effectiveness in Pakistan. My dissertation attempts to identify the multiple roles civil society plays in promoting good governance in Pakistan towards strengthening democracy while measuring the efficacy of these avenues of civil society. I have been involved in the conduct of research regarding Civil Society, Democracy, Local Governance, institutional capacities of the public sector, and participatory governance.
