Dr. Floriano Scioscia

Career and research

Floriano Scioscia received the Master’s Degree in Information Technology Engineering with honours from Polytechnic University of Bari in 2006, and the Ph.D. in Information Engineering in 2010 from the same institution. He is currently an associate professor at the Information Systems Laboratory (SisInfLab) in the same university. His research interests include knowledge representation systems and applications for pervasive computing, cyber-physical systems and distributed ledger technologies. Since 2018 he is an Assistant Professor at the Technical University of Bari, Bari, Italy. His research interests include pervasive computing and the Internet of Things, knowledge representation and reasoning systems, intelligent cyber-physical systems and knowledge representation for digital ledger technologies. He has co-authored over 90 papers in international peer-reviewed edited books, journals, and conferences. Dr. Scioscia was the recipient of Best Paper Awards at the ISUOG 2006, ICEC-2007 and SEMAPRO-2010 conferences, national award for his Ph.D. thesis from the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence (AIxIA) and Google IoT Technology Research Award in 2016.

Prof. Dr. Haider Abbas

Career and research

Haider Abbas is a Tenured Professor, Head of Cyber Security and the Director for National Cyber Security Auditing and Evaluation Lab (NCSAEL) at MCS- NUST, Pakistan. He is a Cyber Security professional, academician, researcher and industry consultant who took professional trainings and certications from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), United States, Stockholm University, Sweden, Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship, Sweden, IBM, USA and EC-Council. He received his MS in Engineering and Management of Information Systems (2006) and PhD in Information Security (2010) from KTH- Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. Dr. Abbas has been appointed by Springer as fulltime Regional Editor for the Neural Computing and Application (ISI-Indexed, Q1, IF 4.6) for all submission from Iran and Pakistan.



Awards and honours

Dr. Abbas has received several research grants totalling 300+ Million for ICT related projects from various research funding authorities and has been working on scientific projects in US, EU, KSA and Pakistan. His professional services include - but are not limited to - Journal Editorships, Industry Consultations, Workshops Chair, Technical Program Committee Member, Invited/Keynote Speaker and reviewer for several international journals and conferences. He has authored over 160+ scientific research articles (with cumulative IF 400+, Citations: 6000+, H-Index: 34) in prestigious international journals (ISI-Indexed) and conferences. He is also serving as an adjunct Faculty Member at Florida Institute of Technology, United States. He is the principal advisor for several graduate and doctoral students at Florida Institute of Technology, United States, Manchester Metropolitan University, United Kingdom, National University of Sciences and Technology, Pakistan, King Saud University, KSA, and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Kazakhstan. He has also worked as Information Security Consultant for various multinational firms which include Government and Private organizations based in US, EU, Middle East and Pakistan.

Dr. Abbas has received many awards from National and International organizations. He has been declared Overall NUST University Best Researcher for 2017-2018 among all NUST constituent Colleges and Schools across Pakistan. Some of the significant awards include Research Productivity Award from Pakistan Council for Science and Technology, Best researcher award from MCS, NUST, CyberPatriot from US Airforce Association, USA and Research Excellence from COEIA, KSA. Also, in recognition of Dr. Abbas services to the international research community and excellence in professional standing, he has been awarded one of the youngest Fellows of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) UK; a Fellow of The British Computer Society (BCS), UK and a Fellow of The Institute of Science and Technology, UK. He has been appointed as 1st ACM distinguished speaker from Pakistan by ACM - Association for Computing Machinery, United States. He has also been elected to the grade of Senior Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), USA. He has been appointed as a Member of the Board of Governors for National Information Technology Board (NITB), headed by the President of Pakistan.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Raza Shahid

Career and research

I am currently working at National University of Computer & Emerging Sciences (NUCES), popularly known as FAST as Professor of Computer Science. I have 10+ years post-PhD experience of teaching and research in Medical Image Processing, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning in particular and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in general at higher education in Pakistan. I have 25 (21 Impact Factor) journal, and 12 peer reviewed conference publications. I have won total funding exceeding PKR 150 million including PKR 97.57 million grant from HEC and Planning Commission for the establishment of Medical Imaging and Diagnostics Lab at COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI). It is part of the National Center of Artificial Intelligence (NCAI). I lead the team that vied for continuous improvement and submitted the readiness report for accreditation of the CS program at CUI, by ABET USA. I have experience with conducting exit, alumni, and employer surveys. I have also worked as member of graduate advisory and thesis committee. In the past I have also served as HoD EE at Abasyn University. I have 4+ years of industrial experience, related to health economics, in the UK.

Dr. Junaid Chaudhry

Career and research

He specializes in cyber security in Operational Technologies (OT). His interests are the product of his experience of working with the National Centre of Ubiquitous Computing and Networks in South Korea, where he specialised in gateway programming in highly converging RTUs, PLCs, and DPCs. He lead the ICS security drive at Qatari government following the international cyber security frameworks such as C2M2, NIST, NERC-CIP and CIS. In the last 20 years working in the cyber domain, he has successfully lead teams, projects from conception to delivery, and has publicly spoken/written on topic of network forensics, cybercrimes, malware analysis, threat hunting, and SoC operations for threat detection. He holds a Professional Engineer's license and he is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, member of High Technology Crime Investigation Association, and Australian Computing Society Certified Professional. He holds a PhD in Cyber Security, Masters of Engineering in Electronics Engineering, and Bachelors with honours in Software Engineering. In spare time he plays Cricket, volunteers for community services (SES), and mentors penetration testers and threat hunters.
