Dr. Shoab Khan

Career and Achievments

Dr Shoab Khan received his PhD from Georgia Institute of Technology USA in 1995. Top Academician and Academic Leader: He is a celebrated academician who has taught in NUST and CASE for 24 years, led the Department of Computer Engineering of NUST as Head of the Department (HoD) and CASE as Chancellor, supervised/ co-supervised 30+ PhD theses and have 350+ international publications, and a world-class textbook published by John Wiley and Sons. He has been serving in the Senate and Board of Studies of Many universities. Inventor and Industrial Leader: He has 5 awarded US Patents. He has extensive industrial experience in USA in companies like Cisco System, Picture Tel, and Scientific Atlanta. In 1999, he co-founded a startup Communication Enabling Technologies and raised $17 million in venture funding. He then established the Center for Advanced Research in Engineering (CARE) and has led it to become one of the most profound engineering organizations in Pakistan.



Awards and Honours

  • He has successfully completed many funded projects from Ignite, HEC and international funded agencies. Currently, he is leading numerous R&D projects on Blockchain technology and Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).

  • In CARE he has been leading a team or around 250+ professionals to successfully deliver over a $100 million technology projects. .
  • Industry & Academia Leadership Position Dr Shoab Khan is a member of three PM Task Forces as the focal person for developing mega PC-1s. He has been awarded NUST best teacher award, HEC best researcher and Tamga-e-Imtiaz Pakistan. He has led his team of CARE/CASE/NUST to win 11 Asia Pacific ICT Alliance awards for innovation and creativity.
  • He also served as Chairman PASHA and has been selected thrice to serve in its Central Executive Committee. He has also been serving in the Board of Directors of Shifa International Hospital. Experience as Regulator, Curriculum Development He has been serving as a member of NCEAC council and was its founding member. He also served the council as Deputy Chairman. He was also the coordinator in setting up the Curriculum of all computing programs and has also led the curriculum development for BS in Cyber Security.

Col. Dr. Imran Akhtar

Career and research

Dr Imran Akhtar is currently serving as the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Sciences & Technology. He did his Bachelors in Aerospace Engineering from PAF College of Aeronautical Engineering, NUST in 1996 with a Gold Medal for the Best Result in Aerospace. He went to the USA and completed his MS in Aerospace in 2003 from The George Washington University.

He completed his PhD in 2008 from Virginia Tech and was awarded Daniel-Frederick Award for Best PhD Student. He later did 3 years Postdoc in the Interdisciplinary Center for Applied Mathematics at Virginia Tech. His research interests include CFD and nonlinear systems with applications ranging from aerospace to energy to biomedical engineering.

  • CureMD USA Fellowship Award
    He recently received the coveted CureMD USA Fellowship Award to develop predictive models for time-to-treatment failure in oncology.

Mr. Syed Ahmad

Career and research

Syed Ahmad is IT industry thought leader and seasoned entrepreneur. He started his award-winning company DPL, serving clients in USA, Europe and the Middle East. With a focus on "Innovation as a Service", DPL has helped various startups towards multi-million dollar exit and many Fortune 500 corporations in their Digital Transformation journey.

Syed is also advising the government as Chair of IT, Prime Minister's TaskForce on IT and Telecom. He has also served on the board of directors of various public sector companies like PRAL (FBR), KPITB (Govt of KPK) etc.

Mr. Usman Shahab

Career and research

Mr Usman Shahab is a technology executive, currently Director Networks & 5G Program Lead (Middle East & Africa) with Ericsson, after earlier roles with the company including Head of Mobile Broadband & Network Evolution.

His career is encompassed creating/implementing technology strategy, team development & leadership, driving technological transformation & innovation, optimising OpEx & CapEx and handling stakeholder relationships including senior-level clients (C-levels).



Awards and Honours

  • Mr Usman has extensive experience in leading e2e (including RAN, Transmission, OSS and Core) Network planning, design and program management.
  • As 5G lead, he has developed Market Area Middle East and Africa Strategic plans for 5G Introduction in CSPs as well as Enterprises.
  • Besides that, he has the honour to lead 1st 5G network rollout in the Middle East & Africa region (STC, KSA). Additionally leading ecosystem for 5G across the Middle East and Africa.

Dr. Tamim Ahmed Khan

Career and research

Dr Tamim Ahmed Khan did his PhD from Leicester University, in 2012. Currently, he is working Professor at Bahria University, Islamabad. He has also led as the Head of the Department of Software Engineering at Bahria University from 2014-2017. Furthermore, he has worked as a consultant at Pakistan Testing Service as well as provided consultancy services to AFIC/NIHD for their automation project of 33.5 million. He has to his credits for around 50 journals & conference publications.



Awards and Honours

  • E-learning system to assist elementary education, response analysis, and early detection of psychological disorders, worth PKR 1,2752,000 as Principal Investigator, NICT-RND funded project.
  • Analysis of stunted student from primary grade learner using battery-based adaptive achievement test worth PKR 805,598 as Principal Investigator, NRPU HEC funded project.
  • RAC (NESCOM) Projects “Protocol analysis for cyber-attack mitigation” and “Development of Traffic Analyzer - TCP/IP Networks” worth PKR 100,000 each as Principal Investigator.
  • Domestic e-commerce business as a Catalyst of Economic Growth worth PKR 807,835 as Co-Principal Investigator, NRPU HEC-funded project.
