Seerah Conference: Social reconstruction in the light of the Searah of the Holy Prophet PBUH.

The Department of Islamic Thought and Culture, NUML Islamabad, organized a National Seerah Conference on 25th September 2024 at Ibne Rushd Block, Iqbal Hall, under the theme "Social Reconstruction in the Light of Seerah of the Holy Prophet ﷺ."
The event was chaired by Prof. Dr. Safeer Awan, Pro-Rector (Academics), with Prof. Dr. Muhammad Riaz Shad, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zia ul Haq, Director General of the Islamic Research Institute at IIUI, served as the keynote speaker. The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a heartfelt Naat-e-Rasool ﷺ .
Dr. Riaz Ahmad Saeed, Head of the Department of Islamic Thought and Culture, welcomed the guests and attendees, outlining the objectives of the conference. He also extended special thanks to the distinguished guests and the audience for their participation.
In his keynote address, Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq highlighted the Seerah's teachings on inclusiveness, the pivotal role of women, and the importance of tolerance as solutions to contemporary societal challenges such as inequality and moral decline.
Prof. Dr. Safeer Awan emphasized the urgent need for societal reform guided by Seerah principles, which could serve as a foundation for addressing modern social issues.
Prof. Dr. Riaz Shad, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, delivered a closing vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and contributors to the event.
A notable feature of the conference was the active participation of M.Phil and PhD scholars, with a special focus on evening shift students.
The event concluded with a dynamic Question and Answer session, fostering discussions on practical ways to apply the Seerah’s teachings in contemporary efforts toward societal reconstruction. At the end of the session, NUML shields and books were presented to the distinguished guests as tokens of appreciation. See less
