Libraries are an arganized collection of books and other information resources. Traditional libraries have a number of problems regarding management and record keeping of books.
The IoT based library management system offers a solution to this problem. For identification, each book in the library is attached with Radio Frequency Identificatiom (RFID) tag. The system contains an RFID reader, Arduino microcontroller board and a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screen module. An android based application has been developed for the students to locate the books in library. The application can be accessed from anywhere in or outside the library. Student can search for a book using this application. The record of books issued, returned with the exact time and date are kept with the application.
For the better performance, the whole system is tested thorougly by issuing and returning the books through online system. For issuing the book. The number of books issued on the name and their ID are also stored in cloud. If the number of books exceeds the maximum limit then the students are not able to issue more books. The results obtained by the libraray management system are acceptable with great accuracy level.
IoT can also provide a global linking of a huge number of libraries and universities in real time. It is concluded that the IoT-based library management systems will be a promising structure that can play a vital role in the human data organization and knowledge access by helping researchers, designers, and administrators in a more efficient and smarter manner.
