Welcome to the French department at National University of Mordern languages. Established in 1969, French department is one of the finest and pioneer department of NUML. Our French programs have been running since then successfully, primarily to meet the needs of army personnel and later those of civil society ( interpretation and translation). The department is designed and developed along mordern lines which are tailored to impart and strengthen the students knowledge in French language and culture. We offer various certification and degree programs. Our courses provide flexibility, broad subject coverage, high quality delivery and excellent job opportunity. French language programs provide comprehensive and diverse understanding of language, grammar, linguistics as well as didatics which help the students to develop their career. It is not only successful in providing essential aspects in the subject, but also allows a sound practical application of the language learnt.

French department is one of the pioneer departments of NUML established in 1969 under its former status as NIML (national institute of modern languages). This department provides an interdisciplinary framework for the study of the French language, literature, history and culture of France and parts of the world in which French is an important medium of communication. Since its beginning various functional and degree courses are being offered such as certificate, diploma, advance diploma, diploma in interpretership, BS, MA and MPhil etc with foreign nationals and foreign and national qualified teachers. Now the department has successfully achieved the status of being the only department in Pakistan which has produced one PhD and three MPhils.
