Prof. Muhammad Riaz Shad spoke at the webinar titled “SAARC and South Asian Regional and Economic Stability” organized by the Centre of Pakistan and International Relations (COPAIR) and Institute of Regional Studies (IRS) Islamabad. Overall, the webinar focused on the importance and challenges for the role of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) in promoting regional stability in South Asia. Prof. Shad underlined the lessons that South Asia can instructively learn from the European experience with regional cooperation and integration. He made the point that South Asia needed a paradigm shift from the politics of confrontation to a discourse of cooperation.
