Session:
Spring 2019
“I was admitted to BS Area Studies China in 2019. I am the youngest of 5 children and the first in my family to go to university and the enrolment in Area studies China has given me a chance to sharpen my skills in my field of Passion. Exploring China’s Culture, was one of my dreams. After the completion of intermediate, I was perplexed to do what? to think what? to search what? as there was no such degree that could meet with my passion. Meantime, NUML launched Area Studies China. I did not wait for a second and applied for it and got admitted because I got lucky, and I got lucky because my passion and preparation was met with privilege and opportunity.
At the beginning of the field, Other than the Learning Chinese Language as a major subject and complete lack of understanding about what actually area study was, there were many barriers and obstacles for me to overcome. I didn’t know what to ask? And didn’t even know where to start? But I am thankful to Almighty and my parents who always instilled a ‘can do’ and ‘an honest to anything’ attitude. My teachers who shed light on that to overcome all the obstacles and barriers especially, Mam Zunaira (Pakistani Teacher), Mam Li (Chinese Teacher), Mam Hu jin (Chinese Teacher) and Sir Cao (Chinese Teacher) who made me one of the meticulous students. I was similarly supported by many other key people as friends and as teachers replete with great ideas and knowledge Without the support and forward thinking of my teachers, I would not have thought this field as an option.
At the start of 2021, I got an internship opportunity as researcher in Financial Literacy Program that was offered by State Bank of Pakistan and Alhamdulillah, I am Certified with one of the best researchers from State Bank of Pakistan. This field has enriched my life in many ways. It has provided me with the necessary tools to enhance my skills more, taught me valuable knowledge about this diverse world, People, Chinese Culture, Chinese language, foreign policy, comprehensive national powers and Pakistan-China bilateral relation’s concepts in general and eventually will enable me to hopefully become more successful in life when I finally graduate and get my degree. It also has stressed to me the importance of thinking critically and asking questions in many situations. All these aspects of this field have also made me more well-rounded as a person. It has been easier for me to achieve any opportunity than if I lived in some other countries, especially third-world ones. These experiences are truly irreplaceable and I would not trade them for anything.
If you are in search of big opportunities, great environment, cooperative staff, Enthusiastic Teachers and a unique filed. I as a Senior most student and Representative of the department, would suggest you to get enrolled in it so that your future gets secure.
