Online Course on Contemporary Latin American Literature-Narratives of the Unusual
The Department of Spanish Language is pleased to offer an “Online Course on Contemporary Latin American Literature-Narratives of the Unusual” during the Fall Semester 2024 with the collaboration of Ms. Ana Gatica, a subject expert from University of Salvador, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Course Overview:
The academic study of narratives of the unusual, particularly those written by women, is a burgeoning area within Latin American literature. Scholars are currently exploring genre boundaries and developing analytical tools to better understand and comment on these texts. At present, few Latin American universities offer courses on these topics, making this course the first of its kind in Pakistan. It will provide students and researchers with access to a unique literary landscape and its rich social context. Subject Expert:
Ms. Ana Gatica is a researcher specializing in postcolonial studies and literature at the Universidad del Salvador in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She has taught several courses within the social sciences at Quaid-e-Azam University in Islamabad and LUMS in Lahore. Splitting her time between Lahore and Buenos Aires, she teaches postgraduate courses on the politics and culture of the Subcontinent. Currently she is researching the ideological role of nostalgia in the works of contemporary English language Pakistani literature.
Target Audience
This course is open to all interested undergraduate and graduate students, as well as teachers, researchers and translators from NUML and other universities.

Duration & Mode
This 15 hours course has been divided into ten sessions, each lasting 90 minutes, spread over the fall semester 2024. It will be conducted online via Google Meet, in English, on the weekends, allowing maximum participation. All reading materials will be provided by the subject expert.
Course Completion Requirement
Participants with at least 80% attendance will receive a certificates upon successful completion of the course.
