Research symposium to guide MS and PhD students

East Campus

On 16th May 2024, the Department of Mathematics organized a research symposium to guide MS and PhD students who were about to complete their coursework and were in the process of choosing a research supervisor. During the symposium, all the PhD faculty members presented their areas of specialization and the direction of their ongoing research projects. This enabled the students to gain insight into the different research directions available and helped them make an informed decision when selecting a supervisor.
In addition to the faculty members, research profiles from the regional campuses were also presented to the students which allowed them to explore the opportunity of having co-supervisors from these campuses, broadening their potential research avenues.
The event provided a platform for students to interact with faculty members and gain a deeper understanding of the research areas being pursued within the department and facilitated meaningful discussions and seek guidance regarding their research interests.

Seminar on Academic Article wrting and Docomentation

The Department of Pakistan Studies arranged a Seminar titled "Academic Article Writing and Documentation" at the Ibn-e-Khalidoon Block, NUML, Islamabad.

Dr Altaf Ullah from the National Institute of Historical Research, Qauid-i-Azam University, Islamabad delivered the lecture. 

During the session, the students were enlightened about the contemporary research demands and progress in the world of academia. The students were also informed about the importance of ethical research.

Lok Bhaithak

Students of the Department of Pakistan Studies were invited to participate in the "Lok Bhaitak" (a cultural ceremony) held at the Lok Virsa Islamabad.

During the ceremony, the students learned about the beauty of local music and the colour of Pakistani culture.

Industrial visit to NIE

The students of BS Electronics, accompanied by faculty members (Mr. Fawad Qadir and Mr. Mubasshir Sarfraz), visited the National Institute of Electronics (NIE) located in Islamabad on the 28th of March 2024. The purpose of the visit was to provide the students with practical insights into the field of electronics and to acquaint them with the cutting edge research and development activities at NIE. Throughout the visit, students had the opportunity to interact with researchers and experts from different domains of electronics engineering. First Aid Training

The Electrical Engineering department organized a comprehensive first aid training session on the 23rd April 2024. The workshop aimed at equipping lab staff, lab engineers and the lab in-charges with the necessary skills to respond effectively to medical emergencies in the laboratory settings. The training covered topics such as basic wound care, CPR techniques and the proper use of first aid equipment. Participants engaged in hands on simulations to practice administering first aid in various scenarios, ensuring they are well prepared to handle any medical situation that may arise while attending to lab students.

Workshop on data visualization using Matlab

East Campus

The Department of Electrical Engineering organized a workshop on April 24th, 2024. The workshop focussed on Data visualization using Matlab. Dr. Khurram Ehsan, Associate Professor at Bahria University, Islamabad led the session. The workshop was attended by students of BEEE-6, BS Electronics 6th and 7th semesters, offering them practical insights into utilizing Matlab for visualizing complex data sets. Participants gained valuable skills in representing and interpreting data, enhancing their proficiency in this critical aspect of engineering and data analysis.

OBR Training on Open ended labs for better training

East Campus

The department of Electrical engineering organized an OBE based workshop on the 29th April 2024. The training was attended by faculty members from the departments of Electrical engineering, software engineering, computer science and mathematics. The training session extended from 9 am to 1 pm. Dr. Gulistan Raja, a distinguished professor at UET Taxila and senior evaluator at PEC conducted the training. The modules covered various aspects of OBE including its significance, defining graduate attributes, implementation methodologies, addressing complex engineering problems, continual quality improvement processes and assessing the affective domain using Bloom’s Taxonomy. The comprehensive session aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to effectively implement OBE principles in their respective disciplines, fostering a more holistic and student centered approach to education.

Alumni Get-Together

East Campus

On the 20th of May 2024, our department organized an alumni get-together that was attended by 35 former students. The event was a wonderful opportunity for the alumni to reconnect and share their success stories. During the gathering, an alumni club was officially established, and key positions such as President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer were assigned by Dean FEC. Dean FEC graced the occasion with his inspirational remarks, encouraging all present to stay connected and continue supporting the department.
