I am a public policy analyst and social development worker. Currently, I am following the
disastrous Novel corona virus 2019 and assessing Pakistan government’s policy and response
to confront with this menace. I have been involved in the conduct of participatory research
regarding disaster risk reduction, conflict management, institutional capacities of public sector
and participatory governance.
I am broadly interested in the Local Governance, Public value, New Public Governance,
Citizen Participation and Civic engagement. In particular, my future research interests are
shaped by the emerging trend from New Public Management towards New Public Governance.
My research agenda focuses on the question of how the participatory governance (including all
stakeholders) and new public governance can make public sector organizations more efficient?
I want to implement an expanded research project that will further test my argument on the
development of civil societies and Participation mechanism in Pakistan. I am interested in
developing new indicators that measure this development. I plan to pursue funding from the
international agencies to carry out new research: on the development of political and social
capital in Pakistan, on opinions of key stakeholders in civil society, and on other new
quantitative and qualitative measures of civil societies. I am also interested in expanding and
publishing research that I have begun on another project that focuses on shift from New Public
Management to New Public Governance. I want to test the applicability of New Public
Management and New Public governance in the government settings of Pakistan. On the
external side, my interest has been, and continues to be, on the synergies and disconnects
between policies designed at the international level by governments, development and financial
international institutions, think tanks, and NGOs and what happens on the ground in Pakistan.
I did my PhD in Public Policy from Universiti Sains Malaysia under prestigious HEC overseas
scholarship and Masters in Public Policy from National Defence University.
