Dr. Muhammad Abu Bakar Bhutta

I welcome you to the Arabic Department at NUML, Islamabad. Arabic Language is spoken daily by over than 400 million people worldwide, Arabic is one of the world’s major Languages. The programs in Arabic Language provide you not only with a good knowledge of the Language itself, but also with an invaluable perspective into Arabic culture, history, Literature, Philosophy, Religion and Society. 

The Department works for the objectives like to contribute effectively in the field of scientific research that concerns Arabic and Literary studies and work on creating the atmosphere that helps in achieving this, to train specialized personnel in Arabic language to be able to work in the different public and private institutions, to train Arabic Language Teachers to teach in the public and private educational institutions and finally to improve the Linguistic skill of the students, polish their various Literary talents and encourage them to produce work of quality. 

Overview

  •       Arabic Department was established at NIML in 1973.
  •       BSML Arabic classes were started in 2000.
  •       BS Arabic classes were started in 2014.
  •       M.A Arabic classes were started in 1975.
  •       PhD program in Arabic started in the year 2000 while MPhil program in 2001.
  •       Today it has 19 PhD Faculty Members out of 19 including 13 HEC approved supervisors.

Department of Arabic Language and Literature at National University of Modern Languages looks forward towards superiority and excellencey not only locally but internationally. It seeks towards enhancement of Arabic Language and Literature status through Teaching and Research activities, that would indeed improve its Graduates to serve in a best way not only in the local community but Internationally.

To provide highest quality instructions to undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students; produce skilled translators and interpreters in Arabic language, create an environment of research, advance knowledge and  produce quality researchers.
