A Volunteer Visit to the EOTO Foundation on October 21, 2024 by SRS
The Social Responsibility Society (SRS) at NUML organized a volunteer visit to the EOTO Foundation on October 21, 2024. Led by Focal Person Ms. Quratulain, 25 SRS members provided educational and recreational activities to underprivileged children, following the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) module.
The volunteers delivered interactive sessions on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, including hands-on activities and practical lessons. The visit concluded with the distribution of stationery and food items among the children.
This initiative successfully delivered educational support, fostered compassion among volunteers, and promoted community service. The SRS aims to continue organizing similar outreach programs, contributing positively to societal welfare and educational development.

A Book Reading Discussion Session organized by English Readers Club (ERC)
On October 11, English Readers' Club of the Department of English (UGS) organized a book reading discussion session in Conference room in the library at National University of Modern Languages, Islamabad. The event featured Dostovesky's novella _Notes from Underground. Dr MuntazirMehdi, HoD, English UGS, Ms Bushra Ashraf, Focal Person ERC, Ms Munazza Mahmood, ERC team members and students from different semesters joined the session. The readers shared their views and experiences on the book and enlightened participants through their engaging and scholarly thoughts. At the end, the Head of Department, Dr Muntazar Mehdi, expressed his thoughts on the significance of reading books, works of famous authors, and expressed gratitude to the speakers and organizers.

First English Aumni Live Streaming Networking Session on YouTube Channel organized by English Alumni Society and Departmental Fcailitation and Support Club on 19th October, 2024
The first-ever **Live-Streamed English Alumni Networking Session**, hosted by the **English Alumni Society** in collaboration with the **Departmental Facilitation and Support Club (DFSC)** on **October 19th**, was a significant success, streamed on the **English UGS YouTube channel** and the **English Alumni Society Facebook page**. Featuring distinguished alumni speakers—**Ms. Abeera Goreja**, Senior HCM Expert at Telenor Group, **Mr. Abdullah Raja**, CSS officer in the Pakistan Administrative Services, and **Ms. Hania Chaudhry**, Freelance Voiceover Artist—the event attracted around **200 views on YouTube** and **345 on Facebook**, totaling **594 plays**. Special thanks to **Dr. Muntazar Mehdi** for his support and **Ms. Syeda Farihatulaen Rizvi** for her cooperation. A heartfelt appreciation goes to **Ms. Iram Shehzadi** for her exceptional coordination in arranging speakers, motivating participants, and managing the recording.

The Department of Mathematics organized a seminar on "Mathematics Beyond Numbers" on October 11, 2024, featuring Dr. Maria Ather, Assistant Professor at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS), NUST. Dr. Ather's lecture explored the fascinating realm of mathematics beyond numerical computations, discussing applications of mathematical concepts in real-world problems, interconnections with other disciplines, and emerging research areas such as data science, machine learning, and cryptography.
The seminar, attended by faculty members, students, and researchers from the Department of Mathematics, received positive feedback. Attendees appreciated Dr. Ather's insightful discussion, which highlighted the diverse applications and relevance of mathematics in various fields. The event provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing and exchange, inspiring further exploration of mathematics beyond numbers.
