Research Symposium for MS/PhD Scholars

East Campus

On November 2, 2023, the Department of Mathematics organized a research symposium as per the instruction of the respected Dean FEC. This gathering aimed to assist MS and PhD students who were about to complete their coursework and were in the process of choosing a research supervisor. During the symposium, all the Ph.D. faculty members presented their areas of specialization and the direction of their ongoing research projects. This enabled the students to gain insight into the different research directions available and helped them make an informed decision when selecting a supervisor.
In addition, the research profiles from the regional campuses were also presented to the students. The event provided a platform for students to interact with faculty members and gain a deeper understanding of the research areas being pursued within the department.

Training Workshop on MATLAB

East Campus

The Department of Mathematics organized a faculty training on MATLAB on November 2, 2023, aiming to enhance the knowledge and skills of faculty members in MATLAB programming and its various applications. Dr. Muhammad Asif Farooq, from NUST University, served as the trainer. 
The training session focused on showcasing the diverse applications of MATLAB in mathematical modeling, numerical computations, and simulations. The participants gained insights into solving complex mathematical problems using MATLAB's built-in functions and toolboxes.
The trainer guided the participants on how to write MATLAB scripts and functions. They learned about control structures, loops, conditional statements, and modular programming techniques. Feedback from the participants was overwhelmingly positive.

Workshop on Mathematics with Python

East Campus

On November 1, 2023, the Department of Mathematics organized a workshop on  "Mathematics with Python" for the faculty of FEC.The workshop, conducted by esteemed trainer Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, aimed to familiarize participants with the practical implementation of Python in solving mathematical problems and analyzing data. 
Dr. Rizwan provided comprehensive resources, including code samples, practice problems, and relevant mathematical datasets, enabling participants to continue exploring Python for mathematical applications after the workshop. Additionally, he shared useful references and online learning materials to support further self-study.

Machine Learning Workshop

AI is a branch of Computing that deals with the ability of a machine to closely imitate intelligent human behavior. Today, the importance of AI-ML is being felt in almost every domain. Therein arises the need for students to be AI-ML proficient.  Industry Liaison Office at Faculty of Engineer and Computing organised a workshop to create an awareness among students about the future in machine learning and to get students prepared for a bright career in machine learning. Mr. Usama Imtiaz was the resource person. He is an ML Engineer, Data Scientist, Humanized Game Mechanics Expert, Evolutionary Game Expert, Senior Lecturer at Bahria University, co-founder of Ayraxs and Master Trainer having multiple certifications and experience in the domain. The workshop helped students gain valuable insights regarding ML, AI and Datascience Corelation.
