Seminar on the Culture of Book Reading and Kashmiri Literature conducted on 23rd September by ERC

East Campus

On September 23, the English Readers' Club of the Department of English (UGS) organized a seminar on "The Culture of Reading Boos & Kashmiri Literature " at the National University of Modern Languages, Islamabad. The event featured Dr Farrukh Nadeem, Assistant Professor, IIUI, and Dr Rabiya Aamiir, Assistant Professor NUML, who enlightened the seminar participants through their engaging and scholarly thoughts. The session ended with a Q&A session. 

In the end, the Head of the Department, Dr Muntazar Mehdi, expressed his thoughts on the significance of reading books and expressed gratitude to the speakers and organizers. He presented souvenir to the guest speaker.

On 25th September 2024, an insightful seminar on Building Emotion Regulation Skills among Youth was held, organized by the Department of Applied Psychology, featuring our esteemed speaker, Dr. Halima S. Qureshi. The event aimed to help faculty and students better understand the psychological processes behind emotional regulation. Dr. Qureshi, a leading expert in the field of Psychology, provided valuable strategies for recognizing and managing emotions effectively.

The seminar successfully enhanced participants' understanding of emotion regulation skills, equipping them with tools to manage stress and emotional challenges more effectively. The event was well-received, and we hope to continue hosting similar seminars to promote mental well-being among students.

In her closing remarks, the Head of the Department, Dr. Ulfat Nisa, expressed gratitude to Dr. Halima S. Qureshi for sharing her valuable insights and emphasized the importance of fostering emotional resilience in today’s youth.

Seminar on Gobal UGRAD Exchange Program held on 16th September by DFSC

East Campus

On September 16, 2024, the Departmental Facilitation and Support Club of the Department of English (UGS) at NUML, Islamabad, hosted a seminar on UGRAD Scholarship Programs. The event featured Mr. Ali Zahoor Malik, senior program officer at USEFP, along with UGRAD alumni Mr. Atif Siddique, Ms. Sana Ihsan, and Ms. Tooba Batool, who shared insights on Fulbright Scholarships and Global UGRAD Exchange programs. Alumni offered practical tips on writing Statements of Purpose, followed by a Q&A session.

The seminar concluded with Mr. Muntazir Mehdi, Head of Department, thanking the speakers and participants. Souvenirs were presented to the keynote speaker, and certificates were awarded to the UGRAD alumni.

Orientation session

An orientation session was arranged for the new students of fall 2024 for the undergraduate programs of BEL and BSCE on September 10, 2024. The purpose of the session was to introduce the students to campus life and help them transition into their academic environment. Head of Electrical Engineering department, Dr. Farhan Sohail welcomed the new students and guided them about the university rules and regulations and related matters. The session was followed by a tour of the university labs and facilities.

Tree plantation campaign conducted on 28th August by SRS

In a powerful demonstration of environmental activism and patriotism, the Social Responsibility Society (SRS) at the Department of English (UGS), NUML Islamabad, organized a nationwide tree plantation campaign to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day. Members of the SRS actively participated by planting trees, seeds, and saplings in their local communities, from urban centers to rural areas, highlighting the importance of tree plantation in combating climate change. The initiative not only promoted environmental awareness but also emphasized that true patriotism involves contributing to the nation's well-being. The campaign was a resounding success, instilling a sense of national pride and environmental responsibility among participants, and SRS plans to continue fostering community welfare through future initiatives.
