Lecture on Techniques of Dubbing and Subtitling and Intradepartmental Debate Competition

The Department of Translation and Interpretation is organizing a lecture on the techniques of dubbing and subtitling. Honorable guest speaker, Dr. Razia Akbar (dubbing and subtitling expert in Persian) will shed some light on the issues faced during dubbing and subtitling and her experience in the field. The lecture will be followed by an exciting and engaging session of debate contest between participants from the Department of Translation and Interpretation.

Students visit Bari Imam and Chillahgah

The Students of BS 6th semester (M), of Pakistan Studies, visited the shrine of Bari Imam and Chillahgah on 24-5-23 as part of their course Social Issues of Pakistan (field trip). Visiting the shrine was a multi-dimensional learning experience for students. They developed their understanding of shrine culture in Pakistan, historical perspective, religious awareness, tolerance, and social and community involvement.

“Celebrating Colombian Culture with Encanto”

The Department of Spanish organized a cultural activity titled “Celebrating Colombian Culture with Disney's Encanto” on Thursday 18th May 2023 from 09:30 to 12:30 hrs at Confucius Seminar Hall, Ibne Khaldoon Block. The aim of this activity was to get the students familiarize with the cultural diversity of one of the Spanish speaking countries i.e. Colombia in an interesting way. Disney’s movie “Encanto” based on Colombian culture was shown and students learnt different cultural aspects through interactive activities.

A Faculty Development Workshop on "Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language" was organized for the faculty members on Wednesday 26th April 2023 at the Department of Spanish. Ms. Maria de la Luz Perea Costa, Expert in Teaching Spanish Language, Literature & Culture, Accredited Examiner DELE exams, was the resource person.

Exploring Argentinian Cuisine

On 16th March 2023, a food activity was organized at Department of Spanish. The recipe of an Argentinian dish was taught to the students and later teachers prepared it for all faculty, students, and staff. Students enjoyed it a lot.

A Seminar on Theological Roots of Social Norms and Corporate Values was held at Confucious Hall, Ibn-e-Khaldun Block, NUML, Islamabad on Monday 22nd May, 2023. The keynote speaker was Mr Abid Iqbal Khari from Positive Pakistan. The worthy Rector NUML graced the occasion with his presence.
