Webinar on Crafting Your Portfolio for Foreign Scholarships conducted by Departmental Facilitation and Supposrt Club (DFSC)
On March 27, 2024, the Departmental Facilitation and Support Society (DFSC) hosted a webinar titled "Crafting Your Portfolio for Foreign Scholarships" on Zoom Meet. The speakers were alumni from the Global UGRAD Exchange program of the 2023-2024 batch. The first speaker was Mcaine Andrei Carlos, a student of Multimedia Arts at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Philippines, who participated in the program as Global UGRAD Exchange student at Emporia State University in Kansas in Fall 2023. He talked about important points to be considered while writing portfolio like academic achievements, extra curricular activities, skills and experiences etc.The second speaker was Taskina Komilzoda, a student of English Literature at Russian Tajik Salvonic University, who was also placed at Emporia State University, Kansas, as Global UGRAD Exchange student in Fall 2023. She highlighted crucial points such as researching scholarships , emphasizing relevant strengths, statement of purpose (SOP) reference letters etc.The third speaker was Sabiha Mukarima, a student of BS English at NUML, Islamabad, who was placed at "The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay" as a Global UGRAD Exchange Student of Fall 2023. Sabiha provided insights into various foreign scholarships available for Pakistani students.All three speakers also briefly shared their journey in USA. The presentation was followed by an interactive Q/A session, during which the speakers answered all questions in detail, leaving the participants satisfied.

Series of Webinars and Hands-on Training on Google Apps and Webtools conduced by English Alumni Society (EAS)
The English Alumni Society (EAS) organized a series of webinars and hands-on training sessions on Google Apps and Webtools from March 16-31, 2024, catering to both current students and alumni of the Department of English GS and UGS. A total of 7 webinars were conducted every Saturday and Sunday, featuring presentations from English Works! Mentors, teachers, and alumni of the 2021-2022 Batch. These webinars were hosted on Zoom, offering various built-in apps and tools such as breakout rooms and whiteboards. The presenters demonstrated a strong command of the Google apps they covered, providing detailed insights that would aid participants in enhancing their digital skills and preparing for Google exams in the future. The participants expressed high satisfaction with the content and delivery of the webinars, evident from their positive feedback.Throughout the series, esteemed speakers including Dr. Sabeen Hayat, English Works! NUML Teacher, who presented on Google Docs on March 16th, Mr. Azhar Munir Bhatti, English Works! Mentor from Govt. Dyal Singh Graduate College Lahore, who presented on Google Sheets on March 17th, Ms. Habiba Ehsan, English Works! NUML Alumna, who presented on Google Forms on March 22nd, Mr. Tayyab Raffi, English Works! NUML Alumnus, who presented on Google Sites on March 23rd, Ms. Zainab Mumtaz Baloch, English Works! Alumna, who presented on Flipgrid and Padlet webtools on March 24th, Ms. Rabis Shah, English Works! Mentor from Shaheed Banzir Bhutto University, Peshawar, who presented on Google Slides on March 30th, and finally Mr. Mian Anis Safeen, who presented on Google Drawings, Google Tasks, and Google Keep on March 31st, 2024. This series provided a wonderful opportunity for students to delve into Google apps and webtools in the digital era, offering endless possibilities for their future progression.At the conclusion of each webinar, interactive Q&A sessions were conducted, allowing participants to pose questions to the presenters. All queries were diligently addressed by the presenters, ensuring that attendees received comprehensive responses and clarification on the webinar topics.

Workshop on Script Writing and TV Drama conducted by Career Planning Society (CPS)
The Career Planning Society of the Department of English (UGS) organized a workshop on Script Writing and TV Drama on March 25th, 2024. The event featured Mr. Shahzad Javed, Assistant Vice President (content), HUM TV, Islamabad, as the resource person. Mr. Shahzad skillfully led the workshop while foregrounding the significance of script writing and media-related career opportunities for the graduates of English Studies. He highlighted the importance of self-reflection, clarity, and knowledge regarding the target audience in the process of writing. He also delineated the basics of script-writing techniques through plot, characters, diction, and the milieu. Moreover, the workshop dealt with the intricacies of structural and formal features of episodic progression via examples of original scripts of famous TV serials, providing an insight into the drama-making process. The honorable presence of the Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Prof. Dr. M. Safeer Awan, Head Dept. of English (GS), Dr. Inayat Ullah, and Head Dept. of English (UGS), Dr. Zawar Hussain Hashmi proved to be a great source of encouragement for the attendees. Dr. Safeer Awan emphasized the availability of multiple career opportunities beyond the narrow focus on the academia and bureaucracy for the English Studies’ graduates. He motivated students to approach their degrees from a market-oriented and practical perspective for their individual as well as collective benefit. In a nutshell, this workshop by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities opened new vistas of creative imagination for the students by persuading them to ponder over innovative career opportunities awaiting them in the fields of content development, media, and production.

The Department of Software Engineering, FEC conducted faculty development training on the fascinating realm of blockchain technology on 6th of April 2024. The training session lead by Ms. Zainab Malik, Lecturer, Department of Computer Science. Participants engaged in hands-on activities and discussions exploring the potential applications of blockchain in various domains, including finance, supply chain management, and cybersecurity. The training equipped faculty members with valuable insights and practical knowledge to integrate blockchain concepts into their teaching methodologies, ensuring students are prepared for the forefront of technological innovation

Diversity and Inclusion Society organised an insightful session with Dr Abdul Baseer Qazi on "21st Century Skills: Interplay of Emotion and Learning" at the main auditorium of Salam Block at 10 am on Thursday, 14 March 2024. The speaker highlighted the ways and means to bring a balance between 'Nafsiya' (emotions) and 'Aqliya' (reason) to become emotionally healthy and intelligent beings in our everyday life.

Workshop on integrating Outcome based Learning principles in BSSE and BSIT Curriculum.
The Department of Software Engineering, FEC conducted an intensive workshop from 1st April to 3rd April, 2024, focused on integrating Outcome-Based Education (OBE) principles into BSSE and BSIT curriculum development. Faculty members from Software Engineering Department were engaged in comprehensive discussions and practical exercises aimed at aligning educational objectives with real-world outcomes. Special thanks to Dr. Sumira Nazir (Head, Software Engineering), Dr. Huma Hayyat Khan (OBE Focal Person), Dr. Nargis Fatima (CRC Focal Person), Dr. Jaweria Kanwal (Course Leader) and all the CRC team members for their continuous effort throughout the curriculum development workshop.
