Accounting and Finance Advancement Centre (AFAC)
The Accounting and Finance Advancement Centre (AFAC) is a departmental initiative at NUML designed to strengthen the connection between academic education and professional advancement. Its rationale is to help students translate their knowledge into practical competencies and meaningful career opportunities. Through structured career preparation and engagement with employers, AFAC aims to enhance students’ professional confidence, workplace readiness, and ability to respond to the changing demands of the accounting and finance profession.
AFAC’s scope encompasses career development, employability enhancement, internship and placement facilitation, professional skills development, and industry liaison for students and recent graduates of the Department of Accounting and Finance. It provides a platform for collaboration among students, faculty, alumni, employers, and professional bodies, supporting access to workplace exposure, professional networks, and opportunities for continued learning and career progression.
AFAC’s role is to coordinate career guidance, CV development, interview preparation, skills workshops, industry visits, and employer engagement activities. It will facilitate internship and employment opportunities in coordination with relevant university offices, build professional partnerships, and gather employer feedback to inform student development. By monitoring participation, internships, and graduate employment outcomes, AFAC will support continuous improvement in the Department’s career services and its responsiveness to industry needs.
