NUML–Accounting & Finance Professional & SDGs Capacity Building Initiative
The NUML–Accounting & Finance Professional & SDGs Capacity Building Initiative is a departmental platform designed to strengthen professional competencies and understanding of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Its rationale is to connect academic knowledge with practical skills and development priorities, helping participants respond to changing workplace and societal needs. The initiative aims to prepare students, faculty, and professionals to integrate ethical conduct, sustainability, and social responsibility into their work.
Its scope encompasses professional development and SDG-focused learning through training programmes, workshops, short courses, and collaborative activities. Key areas include accounting and finance practices, digital tools, financial modelling, entrepreneurship, governance, inclusive development, and environmental sustainability. The initiative will serve students and faculty while creating opportunities for participation by alumni, industry professionals, and community partners, according to the purpose and audience of each programme.
The initiative’s role is to identify learning needs, develop structured training activities, engage qualified resource persons, and coordinate partnerships with relevant organizations. It will promote practical learning through case studies, exercises, and applied projects that connect professional skills with specific development challenges. By assessing learning outcomes and gathering participant feedback, the initiative will improve programme quality and strengthen the Department’s contribution to professional advancement and sustainable development.
