Rector’s Message on Virtual Commencement

Dear Faculty Members

"These are indeed unsettling times for all of us and COVID-19 is deeply impacting our personal, academic and professional lives, and those that we love. As this pandemic has cast a shadow over so much of our lives, I wish you and your loved ones safe passage through this difficult period. As the University community is coping with the challenges of going virtual, we must continue to be diligent in making sure that our online classes set off and remain a successful experience. All of you have worked conscientiously to prepare comprehensive instructional plans. Let me thank you all for your response to the unprecedented challenges posed by the current pandemic. With astonishing speed, and under extremely difficult circumstances, we have made changes to the core activities to ensure that we can protect the health and wellbeing of all members of our community, while enabling us to deliver on key aspects of our core mission. In all of this, you have performed brilliantly. I recognize that COVID-19 has introduced a heightened sense of uncertainty and anxiety. Never before in our lifetime in academia has an incident so thoroughly re-written our plans and expectations. All this has been a uniquely stressful time for all of us. But when I look back over the past few weeks, I am heartened by how the NUML community has rallied, and how all of us have risen to the occasion. We are all eager to return to some semblance of normal as soon as possible. But we must keep in mind that this will be a gradual process. As with your response to the initial crisis, I know you will continue to work with dedication, commitment and care to meet the challenges ahead. I know that by working together, we will come out of this crisis stronger than ever. Let us continue to stand strong and united in the weeks and months ahead."

                                                                        Sincerely,

Maj Gen Muhammad Jaffar HI(M)(Retd)
