Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

  1. Mission:
     

A society that educates and prepares students to become career minded through providing them with educational opportunities and resources that will heighten their understanding about the career analysis, planning, preparation and development. The society further missionizes in developing students to do better in their academic as well as career goals through assessments, technology, activities regarding education, professional development and career counselling.  

 

  1. Vision:
     

Providing key career development plans, services and resources to build up the academic learning process that leads to the career planning and setting of goals for all the students.

 

  1. Purpose:
     

The career planning society values the needs of the individual passion, career development, leadership opportunities for self-awareness and growth.
The main purpose is to help the students in making decisions about what classes to take, identify the extracurricular activities, research and internships that will make them a strong job candidate.
The purpose is to improve students’ knowledge of career options, encouraging them to develop and work towards their set goals during the critical years when they are beginning to venture beyond the trajectory of their parents.

Furthermore it helps to facilitate the students and faculty in using technology and Learning Management System (LMS)

 

  1. Objectives:
     
  1. To strategize a person to determine their career goals and the path to achieve their goals.
  2. Integrating various activities.
  3. Including steps for self-improvement.
  4. Process of meeting the goals.
  5. Providing adequate development and promotional opportunities.
  6. To develop the potential of students/employees for future assignments.
  7. To utilize the man power and other resources more effectively and efficiently in the organization.
  8. To provide proper job placement to the students/employees.
  9. NUML placement center facilitates the students in finding national and international scholarships, internships and many more opportunities for the students.
  10. NUML placement center has made a website where students are motivated to post their CVs according to the most suitable job for them.
  11. LMS not only provides with the content but also deals with the registration of courses, administration of courses, skill gap analysis, tracking and reporting.

 

5.  Mandate, Procedures, Actions/Activities

  1. Society will primarily be managed by the student body and will comprise of the following: President, Vice President and General Secretary, Campus Coordinator and Students’ Spokesperson, to be nominated through elections, interviews and faculty consultation.
  2. The society will function under the overall guidance and approvals of the Dean of Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) duly guided by a Patron from the faculty member i.e. Ms Iram Shehzadi
  3. The society will comprise five Secretaries working under General Secretary, Campus Coordinator and Student spokesperson i.e. Secretary of Finance, Secretary of Publication, Secretary of Media, Secretary f Event Management, and Secretary of External Affairs. These will be responsible for the undertakings of the society under the supervision of directors selected by the executive body from the English (UGS) department.
  4. Titleholders will not be eligible for a second term.
  5. The society funding can be through collections from participants, students, and sponsors.
  6. The structure of funding will be managed by the sponsoring department on an event to event basis. Initial seed money may be contributed by the university.
  7. Any changes if and when required in the SOPs may be incorporated by the formal approval of the Dean English (UGS).
  8. All the marketing efforts and fundraising will be the responsibility of the Secretary of Finance with the help of the Secretary of Media and the Executive Body.
  9. The Directorate of Finance will be responsible to track all the transactions on behalf of the society and ensure the availability of funds and approvals of transactions by the Patron.
  10. Society should have an annual budget dedicated to it for carry out its activities properly. This is how such work is practiced in renowned business schools of Pakistan.

6.  Expected Outcomes

  1. Knowledge
    It will help the individual to be aware of various career opportunities. It will also provide clarity when selecting the right profession.
  2. Self-awareness
    After being aware of the choices around them, the students will be able to select one that matches their skills and competencies.
  3. Self-development
    Discipline, focus, strong-will, strength and training will be needed by the students to pick a path and stick to it.
  4. Career contentment
    Their choice of selecting their own career will boost their morale, help them stay motivated, give their life a meaning and keep them committed to their work place.
  5. Visibility
    A workplace where the students will derive job satisfaction, they’ll find it easier to work and leave your colleagues and bosses with a good impression raising the visibility at work and ensuring that the senior management is aware of your capacity.
