NMS Selection Criteria
The NUML Music Society (NMS) is a university-level student society operating under the Department of English (UGS), Faculty of Arts & Humanities, NUML. Students from all departments of the University are eligible to apply for membership of the Society.
The selection and appointment of members and the Executive Body are carried out through a structured process based on auditions, interviews, performance, and relevant eligibility criteria.
Selection of the Executive Body
- The President of the NMS nominates their successor on the basis of the successor's overall performance, contribution, leadership, and active participation in the Society.
- Other members of the Executive Body are selected through applications for the advertised posts, followed by interviews conducted in accordance with the eligibility criteria established for each position.
- The selection process aims to ensure that members appointed to the Executive Body demonstrate appropriate leadership, responsibility, teamwork, communication, organizational skills, and commitment to the activities of NMS.
Selection of NMS Members
Membership of NMS is open to students from all departments of NUML. Rigorous auditions and interviews are conducted for different categories of performers and supporting teams, including:
- Vocalists
- Instrumentalists
- Media Team
- Event Management Team
- Finance Team
- Public Relations and Sponsorship Team
- Other relevant categories as required by the Society
The auditions and interviews are conducted by a panel comprising members of the NMS Executive Body and the NMS Focal Person.

The NMS Executive Body is responsible for assisting in the planning, coordination, management, and execution of the Society's academic, cultural, musical, and co-curricular activities under the guidance and supervision of the Patron NMS and the Department of English (UGS).
