Seminar on World Mental Health Day

On October 10, 2024, in celebration of World Mental Health Day, the Department of Applied Psychology at NUML, Islamabad successfully organized a special event aimed at promoting mental health awareness and well-being. The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Riaz Shad, Dean of Social Sciences, who attended the session. The program began with an insightful session by our esteemed guest speaker, Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, Head of the Psychology Department at NUMS and a distinguished Clinical Psychologist. His talk emphasized the importance of "Mental Health at the Workplace," offering practical strategies for managing stress and emotional challenges. Following his address, students performed a creative play and a poem, both highlighting the significance of mental health support and self-care.
After the seminar, Dr. Rizwan, along with Dr. Ulfat Nisa, Head of the Psychology Department at NUML, Islamabad, visited the psychological awareness stalls set up by both the morning and afternoon students. These Mental Health Day stalls focused on mental health assessments, stress management techniques, and raising awareness about psychological well-being. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan and Dr. Ulfat Nisa appreciated the students' efforts and creativity, commending them for their active participation and the valuable information they shared with attendees.
In the closing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Riaz Shad presented a shield to Dr. Muhammad Rizwan as a token of appreciation for his valuable contribution. The event, with its diverse and engaging activities, made a significant impact on fostering mental health awareness among all participants.
